In a candid conversation with the founder of Platinum Staffing, we uncover the passion, perseverance and purpose that has fuelled a decade-long journey of excellence. Here’s a glimpse into the story of how it all began, the challenges faced, and the triumphs celebrated along the way.
Early on in my career, I realised that I wanted to work for myself. Having delivered outstanding results in various roles, I realised that my energy and skills would be best directed toward my own venture. While working at some of Melbourne’s most well-known bars, I saw an opportunity for a staffing agency that really got the details right.
It was very hard in the beginning to be taken seriously as a 22-year-old. Breaking into an industry with well-rooted competitors took a lot of tenacity and quality work to carve out a name for Platinum Staffing.
Starting out, I found it fascinating to learn about the many parts of a business that make it tick. From cash flow management to managing people, compliance to payroll platforms, from accounting to dealing with business contracts—it was like uncovering the pieces of a puzzle that fit together to keep things running smoothly.
Platinum Staffing began in a home office converted from a spare room. 14 months later, we upgraded to our first office in Footscray where we were able to build an office team. In 2019, we moved to our current location in Altona North. This move was a big upgrade because our new office was custom-designed with a full commercial kitchen and plenty of office space. It was at this point that we really started to grow and expand the business.
Post Covid things really took off. We retained a strong pool of quality casuals which allowed us to expand into many of Melbourne’s largest venues and events. It was a busy period with hospitality staffing shortages and our clients really appreciating the extra mile that we went to ensure their high standards were met and exceeded.
The last two years have seen us expand our service offering as well as setting up operations interstate.
I feel that our personal touch with our clients and casuals is our biggest point of difference in the industry.
We invest in our staff, ensuring they are impeccably groomed, well-inducted, and supported both on and off-site. This commitment translates into an unparalleled level of engagement, empowering our team to consistently exceed client expectations.
Platinum Staffing has truly become a forge of excellence. We have had the pleasure of fostering the growth of many individuals in their hospitality journey. For some, it was their first job in Australia, for others a chance to sharpen their skill set and progress to higher roles. But what truly resonates is the heartfelt gratitude expressed by those whose lives we’ve touched—the emails and messages affirming that we’ve made a meaningful difference. That to me, is the greatest achievement of all.
In the realm of staffing, Platinum Staffing isn’t just a name—it’s a testament to excellence, integrity, and the power of making a difference, one person at a time.
